In Concourse J at MIA, you can find the Avianca VIP lounge.
The lounge is for those traveling business, first class, and a list of numerous other eligible members (Start Alliance, Priority Pass, etc etc). One day passes can also be purchased.
Lounge Entrance
The entrance to the lounge is on the right side of the concourse across from Gate J14.
Go through the set of glass doors and up the escalator (it is the only place to go). Step off the escalator (goes up one level only) and you can see the entrance to the lounge.
To gain admittance, will need to show your boarding pass (or day pass). Airline employees stamp your ticket and write down your flight info. There is a speaker in the lounge where employees call out your flight when your plane is boarding
On the day I was in the lounge, most of the seats were taken and it was quite loud. I didn’t realize how many people were traveling business or first class. For Avianca, there is probably an easy membership program or points system to be admitted.
I took a video of what the lounge looks like and added it below.
The lounge provides some nice goodies such as salads, assortment of healthy foods, cakes, cookies. My favorite part of the lounge was the high end coffee machine.
The lounge had two restrooms which were much nicer than your normal terminal bathrooms.
Overall the experience was very nice and I was glad to be able to visit the lounge. It was a much better place to wait for my flight than down in the main terminal where seats are less comfortable and there isn’t a wide variety of free foods to munch on.
