Favorite Hotel – Inkaterra Machu Picchu

Inkaterra Machu Picchu

At the foot of Machu Picchu there is a city officially known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. To locals it is still known as it’s previous name of Aguas Caliente.

The city only has a few thousand residents. The easiest access to the Pueblo is by train. There is a train station in the middle of the town.

There are only a few roads in the city, but I did notice that there are no private vehicles in the city. I just saw buses. The buses take people up to Machu Picchu. They seem to leave constantly and there are always more buses parked waiting to make the 25 minute trip back up the mountain.

We visited in February, the rainy season. During our visit it rained constantly and the Urubamba river, which is directly next to the hotel was overflowing.

The Inkoterra is famous for having one of the most diverse set of orchids as any other hotel in the world. Here are some pictures below of the grounds and our suite.

Our room was beautiful. It had a fireplace couch, chairs, and a large King Sized bed.
