Getting to Machu Picchu in Peru normally takes a layover in Lima before heading over to Cusco. My layover was overnight, so chose to stay at the Wyndham Costa Del Sol and this turned out being a great decision.
I have had many airport layovers and this hotel was the easiest to get to. I was literally out of the plane for no longer than 20 minutes and I was in my room at the hotel.
The Wyndham is basically in the parking lot of the airport. As soon as you exit the baggage area on to the street you are facing the hotel which is about 20 yards from that location.
TripAdvisor had the Holiday Inn Lima Airport as the top choice. The Holiday Inn is very close. I could see it from the Wyndham, but due to the chaotic traffic in front of the airport, you need to waste time and money with a taxi in order to get to this hotel.
We met people later on in Cusco who stayed at the Holiday Inn and let us know how ridiculous it was taking a 15 minute taxi ride in a circle through traffic and lights in order to get to the hotel. Once arriving at the Holiday Inn, they had no complaints. The problem was getting there.
The Wyndham Del Sol costs about $20 more per night. The hotel looks new and has a very nice complimentary breakfast. Overall couldn’t ask for anything better. It took minutes to check in the next morning for our flight to Cusco.
